A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
